Do you remember when we played "bring the ruckus" Wu-Tang Clan on the bus and Doc Hankins started cussing us before the state final ahaha. We were hoodlums man, no wonder we never won.

Haha the days of the old Shockaholiks. Remember the year after you left when 1-6 got those BRIGHT tennis ball green adidas shoes haha.
Bright green like the hoodies Mrs. Kennedy would wear while standing in front of Peter's line of sight when he would play Adam.
People don't understand what a true hateful tennis rivalry was unless they know about Raiders & Indians in the mid to late 90's. I do miss it all.
OMG I never told you.
That year we played wu-tang on the bus, the guy who played Brad ended up living right below me my 2nd year at UVA. He was actually a pretty nice guy.
He admitted Brad was a better player but he also knew all he had to do was get in his head and he'd win.
He actually said to me when we strolled in our crappy yellow bus bumping some rap song they knew they were going to wax us.
hahaha, Tim Fleischer. Wow, yeah we were our own worst enemies man. I kept it together and Pete was always pretty strong minded too. Between Stacy, Watson, and Bailey though, we were doomed. We went from shockoholics to schtizophrenics.
I remember the shoes you are talking about. Those things were ugly. What possessed you guys.
Because all the papers talked about was how Kelly was going to wax the region and we were just an indignant and roudy team in general. That and Levi somehow sold all of us on the idea at the lunch table when he brought in the newest edition of Eastbay lol.
(We did get the first win over the Injuns in Raiderland haha. I beat Adam Dotson at home and in the district final - remember back when the lpd used a unique tournament for each of seeds 1-6 haha... and added up the points to determine winner. but he got me at the reservation and in regions when it counted).
btw...
Kelly I hope you all have gotten new courts and finally decided to replace those low low nets that you all love but everyone eles hates so much
Yeah I remember the flighted system really well. It was honestly hard to win that way because there were good players on sorry teams that you would have to play. When they changed it to the team competition, you could avoid those types.
Will you be home this summer? if so you should play in some tournaments. After 2 coalfield runner ups, Im going to give it a go and see if I can win one before I die.
yeah I most likely will
I'm really rusty haha, the scrubs could probably give me a run for my money
Does anybody know when Tennis Practice starts??
not that I really know man, but from what I remember, it usually starts around the 1st of march.
Febuary 20th.
22 more days!
i heard norton was gettin a sorry arse coach to come in and help coach hankins
not this year lol.
it's inevitable
hush
I can't wait for the season to start!
Hankins not old enough yet. In eigth grade still, has been improving, talk is he may hold back? The supporting cast for Crowder and Ward aint bad at all. Cruz Missile Redman working hard on his game. McElroy has been no show, Pugh got good potential along with Robinson. The two of those guys could form decent #3 dubs, known as the termites. Big Country Middleton, could contribute, along with bryson Dotson, Hensley, Etc.
I can't wait for the season to start, my friends and I have been playing everyday! Elijah, Jake and I (Dotson) play almost every day after school and we have improved tremendously.
Who do you guys think will be the most improved freshman this year? I think Bryson Dotson from norton has a shot at it, As well as Chad Shepard and Myself.
How do you have a most improved freshman, when they aren't even allowed to be on varsity yet?
Thats one thing you dont do here. Make posts about best whatever, just let the final rankings do that.
I would love to work with Bryson on his forehand. Its long, while it is effective, it wont be nearly as effective against GREAT players in the future. He needs to shorten his stroke up big time. Long swings/short swings have nothing to do with effecting power. Power comes almost exclusively from using your legs and keeping your head down on the ball.(You jerk your head up, the ball is going to set sail)
Where are u from?
(Bryson Dotson)
Haha mega is an old-head like myself, from a long gone era of Burton tennis.
One of the toughest lefties you could play against (and this is not anywhere near current lpd standards).
He would school you.
*look back at our previous posts*
Mega was part of an awesome Burton team. I definitely enjoyed watching Burton and the JJK boys play back in the late 90s- it was probably even more exciting than a JJK Girls and Burton match back then.
JJK girls vs JIB boys back around 97 or 98 would have been a good match. I think some of the lower seeds might have been close
Id have a hard time believing that Dera could beat Matt Ward. Dude hit the living [censored] outta the ball.
I myself dont really feel like I was all that good in high school, I didnt truely develop a real tennis game until I played at uvawise. Playing as a 1 seed in college made me better in 1 year(just playing great players) than all of the work I put in during 4-5 years of high school. Every single loss in college was worth it, and believe me there were lots, I played 2 americans my whole college career.
I don't think I was all that great of a player in high school, I was just good at being consistent. (I was definitely better than I am now though!) I'm sad because I haven't kept up with the sport since I decided to go to VT instead of taking the tennis route at E&H. I really miss playing though! I'm hoping when I start my job next fall I can find some tennis buddies in Roanoke and try to get good!
Roanoke is eeking with tennis players, there are tons of usta tourneys there. Living in swva, its pointless to be a usta member because you have to compete in the midatlantic region. All of the tourneys I would consider playing are in tennessee which isnt part of the region.
Anyway, if Hingis can do it, why not you
ahhh Hingis- I had her racquet back in the day, I loved it... USTA tourneys would be a good way to get some playing time, but I'm sure I'd start off with a TON of losses.
i believe appy's starts the 15th of feb....
btw, am I talking to mar or mac?
mac- the cool one. hahahaha

Maybe we can hit sometime "Mega"
(Bryson Dotson)
sure thing man, just get through tennis season and we will hit some this summer.
Alright sounds cool, are you left handed?
yeah Im a left handed.
You're all going to make me start trying to play tennis again...or attempt to play tennis, thats closer to the way I play.
But it was better than being lazy, like now
you dont have to be good to have fun, get out there rock.
